The Sonic EVO 1 27.5 is the highest quality hardtail in the model range of the Cologne-based Bulls brand. The design of the frame looks futuristic thanks to the angular lines and thus creates the perfect transition between the cheaper hardtails and the higher quality fullys.
Bosch is the major motor manufacturer in the EMTB world, alongside Shimano - and it's no surprise, as the Performance Line CX shows. No matter how steep or technical the climb is: the Bosch motor makes it conquerable! At the same time, the drive provides a very natural feeling while riding with a progressive power delivery. The well-tuned riding modes cater to bikers of all preferences. Fans of XXL tours are greatly restricted by the Sonic EVO 1 27.5 with only an average range.

At a glance

The most importanten ratings of the Sonic EVO 1 27.5” in comparison to the competitor bikes of following categorie: (4000) .

On rough descents, the poor Bulls fork limits and demands a more precise line choice than bikes with a top-end fork. Especially for heavy riders, the Bulls brakes could be a problem. With four pistons they only decelerate averagely. Wide tires provide more grip and comfort. Bulls tends to fit narrow tires with its #reifen_inch_breite Bulls tires. For an EMTB, we would prefer wider treads. The drivetrain and components have a subordinate but not to be neglected importance when it comes to EMTB. Even the bike brand product managers know this and don't aim too high with mostly average components. If the Meta's chainstay length is less than 445, the short chainstay and, if the Reach's Relative Rating is less than 3, the relatively short reach characterise the Bulls as a playful, agile bike. This makes it easy to navigate through winding trails. Small wheels are becoming rare, but with the Sonic EVO 1 27.5 the 27.5 wheels pay off with a playful riding experience. Due to the short chainstays and the shallow seat angle , when climbing steep sections, it requires active weight shifting to prevent the front wheel from lifting. Hell yeah, the geometry is killer! Here the know-how of the Bulls developers is videly visible.

Conclusion

Expirience with the Bulls Sonic EVO 1 27.5”

With a simple fork and a middle ground brake system, the Sonic EVO 1 27.5 definitely has weaknesses. Nevertheless, it remains a solid all-rounder with a wide range of abilities , thanks to a very good geometry and a good motor.
